Art In Yorkshire - Exhibitions - David Hockney: Bigger Trees Near Warter:
'via Blog this'
Not actually started – or even registered for this course yet but wanted to record this here as it has sparked a couple of ideas for me. Visited this exhibition in April 2011 and never got around to writing it up. Given that it consists of a single image (even if it contains 50 sub-images) Bigger Trees Near Warter leaves a lasting impression. It seems to follow in some senses from Hockney’s photo-collages of the mid-eighties, and seems also to hint at some ideas for landscape photography which also chime with some of the earlier Surrealist photography of Atget.
To be honest I haven’t really thought this through in any detail – I simply don’t want to lose the thread.
